As you begin to specialize in a particular field your class size will keep diminishing. Don't be surprised if your professor knows your name within a week of your junior class at the University. In a small sized University you will find yourself taking classes with as few as 12 students if not less! This allows one to work in a close knit group where the faculty member plays the role of the mentor and your peers become your companions. The opportunity to study with other students from such diverse nationalities and cultures will enable you to make friends from varying backgrounds. Most often than not your interactions will result in long lasting friendships. Interactions with students from such diverse backgrounds will prepare you for a career in an organization that has many international links.
The learning experience is a mutual give and take, alive with discussions, debates and examples that are drawn from the real world. Class assignments and project work make one proactive in finding alternatives to a solution rather than accepting those provided by the course instructor. The developments of one's analytical and reasoning skill are hallmark in the professional growth of an individual and are qualities that are greatly valued in any walk of life. Learning thus becomes an interactive process where the student participates and contributes rather than passively understanding mere theoretical propositions. As you learn to connect theory with practice you will begin to understand the underlying principles that operate.

Your college experience will provide a platform for you to combine your diverse interests. You could pursue an Engineering degree while taking a few course in philosophy or music. The flexibility of the educational program will allow you to choose and craft your own major within the programs offered by the University. Summer breaks will find you travelling the neighbouring states that surround your University. The scenic beauty of a snow-clad mountain in winter and the vast stretches of cornfields will capture your adventurous spirit. On weekends you will find yourself learning how to skate, swim and ski if you don't already know how to!!
In your spare time you could discover the creative side of you by joining the Drama/Music groups or perhaps writing articles for the schools newsletter. There is plenty of opportunity for you to find out those facets of yourself that your never knew existed within yourself.
Finally an experience abroad entails an amount of independence, as one must now rely on oneself. Most students will find the need to do household chores, manage their money wisely and participate in social activities without hindering their academic performance. The social and emotional maturity that your will begin to gain at your University will enable you to organize your work and personal life. These will be primary importance as you train yourself to become a responsible citizen.
